Week 11

Not a huge loss this week, but I thought it was going to be a gain, so I'll take it! I feel like I've been in a bit of a slump this week from taking Sunday and Tuesday off, but I made it to the gym last night. I was so proud of that because Jared said he was going to the gym after his ride along, which was pretty late. I stayed at work late and almost skipped. But I thought, hey, he's still making it at like 10pm, I can do it at 7:30. It was a great run too. I worked on endurance and ran 2.5mi without stopping, yay! It gave me some confidence that I can actually do this running thing.

At my work contest, we had to change scales, which wasn't pretty (it was also after eating b/c there were no morning weigh ins!), so the contest was extended until 4/27. More time to really get everything down. I have lost a few inches in the past month, which is awesome, so hopefully I can keep that up, kick the weight loss into gear, and walk away with some money ;) I feel like my eating is getting better, I'm more conscious, trying to plan the day more, and eat more filling foods to keep my calories down, rather than crashing in the afternoon.

Goal 1: Lose 4lbs (weigh 153.2) There's still hope in the next 2 weeks
Goal 2: Gym 4x/week I worked out last Wednesday, Thursday (even though I really didn't want to!) and Saturday to round out the week. This week, I've gone Monday and Wednesday, and will go tonight, and tomorrow. Saturday is another run day.
Goal 3: Run 5k 3/28 in 35 minutes
I'm feeling good at my ability to sprint to the end. If I can run without stopping, I can surely pick up the speed and beat the time where I had a good amount of walking.

Work weigh-in

We got a new scale for our work weigh in. And had to weigh in in the afternoon. Not pretty.

Hopefully I'll be ok at my home weigh in.

We didn't do a 5k this past weekend, but I did 2.9 miles in 33:53. Not bad, kinda on par with the previous week.

Week 10

A little more weight loss this week. I think Jared is right that the sodium of my taco salad last night helped with some water retention, since I was down a little more yesterday morning and worked out a lot yesterday... but hey, I'm good at making excuses, I'm still doing well! I'll just stay away from carbs and sodium pre weigh-ins for now ;)

I started my total body conditioning class yesterday at work. I don't know how I feel about those classes. I mean, they're obviously burning a lot of calories and great work outs. I was thinking about it though, and I just feel worn out when I'm in those classes and not like I had a good work out. I feel stronger when I just lift weights instead of high rep low weights with jumping jacks. I feel better when I have a distance to my running instead of jumping around. But I am sore and did get in a good lower body work out... I'm going to keep trying, see if the class gets better for me. And I'll supplement where needed. For example, we didn't do chest yesterday, so if that happens again, I'll do that at the gym. Otherwise, Tuesdays and Thursdays will be extra cardio.

Mondays and Wednesdays are run days on the treadmill, Saturday outside. And Fridays OFF :) Tonight is w6d2 of c25k.

Goal 1: Lose 4lbs (weigh 153.2) I'm feeling confident on these last 3 weeks
Goal 2: Gym 4x/week Last week was a really off week for me, but I did upper body Friday and 5k Saturday. For this week, Jared and I went for a walk Sunday, I ran Monday, and yesterday was class and swimming. Today and Saturday are runs (another 5k Saturday!)
Goal 3: Run 5k 3/28 in 35 minutes
Last Saturday, I finished 35:37. I was amazed at myself, and I really think my goal is attainable!!

A Race Through History 5k

So, this weekend, Jared and I decided to do a 5k in Winchester. It was held by the Shenandoah Valley Runners Club, and when we got there, we did not have high hopes. Me especially. I kept telling Jared I would be dead last. The racers all seemed to know each other and be quite experienced runner, unlike previous races, where there's people from all levels represented. My goal was 38 minutes. This would beat my 38:40 from the previous week, despite not training outside at all, and the hills that were involved.

Mid-race, Jared happened to see me through a clearing on the other side of a loop, and saw I was alone. He didn't want me to be last, or alone, especially since I was so upset about possibly being last. He slowed down and let me catch up. He didn't realize there was a person right in front of me, and a handful of people behind me, but his pushing me along was much appreciated.

There were times I honestly thought I wasn't going to make it, and I felt so ready to give up. I went in with a poor attitude that really held me back. But listening to the mix Jared made me, when the second to last song came on, and I saw the finish close by, I realized, I didn't finish until the end of that song (by Little Big Town) last run, and now I had a chance to finish near the beginning. I finally had some hope and really pushed myself to finish (Jared had taken off, I was holding him back :) ).

I finished in 35:37. A 3 minute improvement from the week before. I think I'm still a little shocked at that. No where to go but up from here!

Week 9

I was down a pound this week! Finally :) Though I love my work scale more, I was down to 154 on that... hopefully that helps in my winning haha.

Jared and I worked out well this weekend and really pushed ourselves. I took Monday and Tuesday off, but got back to it Wednesday. I started W5D1 of C25K last night, which went surprisingly well. As in other aspects of life, I don't think I give myself the credit I deserve. I really can do more than I think in terms of working out. I hope to keep pushing myself.

My work class has been pushed back a week, so next week I start total body conditioning 2x/week. I'm curious to see what that will entail, so I know how to base the rest of my week. Obviously lots of cardio the rest of the week, but what will I need to do for strength.

I'm putting myself in Jared's hands, which means cardio is part of every workout, and I'm keeping my calories down. Between his approval (for lack of a better word) and sparkpeople, I'm hoping not to cheat as much. Already I'm seeing how quickly things add up that I don't expect.

Goal 1: Lose 4lbs (weigh 153.2) 1lb down, 3 to go!
Goal 2: Gym 4x/week Been Sunday and Wednesday, and am planning on tonight, possibly Friday, and Saturday as well
Goal 3: Run 5k 3/28 in 35 minutes
Was able to finish in 38:40 last Sunday. Hoping for 38 even this Sunday, at least.

New 5k

Jared and I found out yesterday that Phi Sig and Theta Chi will be doing a 5k together in Harrisonburg March 21! Very excited, we're going to run that, and then my goal 5k is the following weekend. We ran on the treadmill Sunday, and I finished in about 38:30, which is about 3.5 minutes off my previous time. I'm going to do awesome :)
