To be fair, the stinky was because I was trying out J's long sleeve under armour shirt and grabbed it from the laundry. Yes, gross, but it was really cold out and my tank top and arm warmers were just not going to cut it. Plus, I wanted to test it out before asking for any shirts for myself for Christmas. Luckily, I was able to concentrate on how awesome I looked in just an Under Armour shirt and running tights. And if I feel this comfortable now, just think of how great I'll look in a few months!
So, I really didn't want to run yesterday morning. But, it's our standing family weekly run date, so it was 2 to 1 and I had to go. O climbed in his jogging stroller before I could get my butt off the couch. I told J fine, but I wanted a casual run, no trying to push myself to beat last week's time, and fortunately, he agreed to take it easy on me. For all the complaining I did though, it went well! We ran our normal 3.1 route and I didn't fall too far behind, and more surprisingly, I only stopped to walk for about a minute at our turnaround, and that was for water. I know I can run the whole time without stopping, but I'm normally pushing myself to do so. I felt comfortable at the pace I was jogging, and not walking was not a problem.
Even better was knowing that my casual pace now is better than my race pace of just this summer. I finished in 33:59. Under 34 minutes was my Turkey Trot race goal. To finish in under my race goal when I'm just taking it easy is a huge accomplishment to me. Yes, cutting down on my PR felt amazing, but I think I'm really starting to get over the feeling that I'm super slow, and the feeling that my recent speediness (for me anyway) has just been a fluke.
I mean, it was still cold and stinky and I'm exhausted and didn't run today like I wanted to and I'm going to whine about all of the above (it is so hard to get winter miles in!), but I also can't wait to do our loop next week to see how I improve.
