And started with a bang - one whole mile! It is getting lighter earlier, which is fabulous, so I got to run outside Tuesday morning. But, it's still cold. And plus, J was up and I wanted to spend some time with him for Valentine's day. I'm sure he could tell I wanted to spend time with him, and really appreciated it, with how angsty I've been this year.
The mile did go well though. I was supposed to run 3 miles, so I still owe myself 2. I didn't get them in later in the day, so hopefully this weekend. For training, they are supposed to be at once, however, I'm more concerned with finishing my miles for the winter challenge; 2 more weeks, 32 and a half more miles. Training is going to help, as long as I don't cut short any more runs. This time around, I'm following Hal Higdon's Novice 2 training plan. I was really excited to see Novice 2 when I was planning out this year. I used his novice plan (now Novice 1) for my two half marathons last year, but didn't feel *quite* ready enough for the Intermediate plan, partially because of my lack of running this winter. So, maybe next time. But in the meantime, super excited to have a plan again.
And I'm happy with my progression this week. And Thursday is measurement day at work (hear that, NPP?). I'm hoping for good results, at least in my arms, which I've started working on since joining the gym. And a part of me thinks it's crazy that I'm already at 40ish miles for the year when my goal for last year was only 100. Granted, I went over that goal by 125 miles, but still, thinking of it that way makes me happy.
And I figured it was a good time to check in on those monthly goals, since this post checks one off.
-Continue on with New Rules of Weightlifting for Women. I am loving this routine. Check!
-For real start half training, so running at least 3 days a week. Check!
-Spin at least once a week. Check! Though not yet this week - plan is for Friday
-Month of water! No soda for the month. Um, I may have cheated a few times
-Pick a week and meal plan for at least that week. Hopefully it will be successful and I'll keep going, but I'm just committing to a week for now. So, I actually forgot about this goal. But you know what, I don't think this works for us. I mean, J does most of the cooking, and he does have ideas ahead of time, and generally for a few days in advance, so I don't know that formal meal planning is necessary.
